Hello Lyn
Can you remember a few weeks ago that you replied to a post that I had done about my feet and having the hard skin removed?
Well I did listen to what you said. I had to take my mother in law to see a podiatrist at another hosptial. Her doctor had referred her there when I showed her her toe nails (long story). When I took June in I was asked about her medical history, when the podiatrist learnt that she had no major illness apart from her dementia I was told that she shouldn't of been there, she was only for people with high risk illness. However she started to work on Junes toe nails.
I asked her for some advice about my feet. Told her I had RA, told her my history and what you had said. She looked at me, said that RA is a high risk illness, it was a terrible illness to have and it played havoc with your feet. She took one look at my nice fashionable ankle boots and announced that they weren't doing my feet any good and I needed some 'sensible shoes'. (I'm old enough to be her mother and she was telling me off!!!!!). I protested that I like nice shoes only to be told that they were OK for occasional wear, but for normal everyday I must have some good shoes, or suffer later on for being silly now.
She agreed with me that if it was only just hard skin I shouldn't be having the pains that I sometimes get and that they normally treat the most obvious cause and cheapest option first and also agreed with eveything that you had said and having hard skin removed was only treating the symptons and not the cause.......................... So, I'm going to the hospital tomorrow, I've got an appointement in the RA clinic so while I am there I will go back to the foot clinic and see about another appointment there.
Thank you
